Tour de Langkawi ends; Vuelta a Andalucia opens

The Swedish biker from FUJI-SERVETTO concludes his first major road race in good style. Gene (Bouygues) wins in the last mass sprint of the race, where Fuji-Servetto's Clarke was 6th.  Del Nero (15th) was the best of the Boys in Blue at the opening time trial of the 55th Vuelta a Andalucía

Kessiakoff 4th at Langkawi's GCK

Colombian José Serpa Pérez (Diquigiovanni) claimed the overall win at the 14th Tour de Langkawi, the most important race on Asian turf (UCI 2.HC category). Serpa did not have any difficulties holding on to the the leader's jersey during the last stage, a urban circuit course in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur over 80 kilometers. Frenchman Yohann Gene (Bouygues Télécom) took the last bunch sprint, while Australia’s Hilton Clarke from FUJI-SERVETTO achieved the sixth place. The Boys in Blue ended what may be considered a good race for the team, as a stage victory was the only missed spot to match the riders’ great overall performance.

Clarke and Vigano ranked regularly at the top-ten standings of the bunch sprints, while others assisted in a stong general outcome: Nardello and Cobo were protagonists at crucial breakaway groups, while Swedish biker Fredrik Kessiakoff shined with his tremendous performance at the Queen Stage, that made him climb towards the 4th place in the GC, only 7 seconds behind the podium places. The squad directed by Alvaro Crespi proved to be efficient, as they finished in third place at the overall teams’ classification.
